Calabasas is a city consisting of 15 suburban neighborhoods in Los Angeles County, located in the hills west of the San Fernando Valley and north of the Santa Monica Mountains bounded by Agoura Hills, Hidden Hills, Malibu, West Hills, and Woodland Hills, . Considered one of LA county’s most desirable suburbs, it has a population of 24,202 and is just a short 30-mile drive from downtown Los Angeles. Known for its beautiful Spanish architecture, as well as new construction, large lots, and abundant shopping, Calabasas is a family friendly affluent community that attracts would be residents from all over the world.

 

Scenic Environment 

Calabasas is more than a quiet suburb found west of the San Fernando Valley; it is a hidden gem for residential living. Over the last few years, the city of Calabasas has grown in its reputation for luxury as well as for privacy which makes it a prime spot for A-list Celebrity residents.

Additionally, it’s incredibly scenic!- We all know that Los Angeles is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but Calabasas has its own kind of charm. It’s not as crowded, and it gives you a chance to see both nature and urban landscapes at their best.  The city is also home to a number of parks and open spaces, so if you’re someone who loves waterfalls or just enjoys wandering around downtown areas, this place will be your dream come true!

The City of Calabasas does not issue business licenses and does not require an LA County Business License for businesses operating in the City. Additionally, it has seen the job market increase by 0.7% over the last year. Future job growth over the next ten years is predicted to be 33.7%, which is higher than the US average of 33.5%. The County (Los Angeles County) provides individualized business assistance, from access to capital and tax incentives, to cost containment strategies so businesses can maintain operations and avoid layoffs. Friendly Community

Calabasas is a safe and family-friendly neighborhood - there are many local activities and amenities that make for a great lifestyle.  Although it is still predominantly composed of a caucasian population, it is steadily becoming an increasingly diverse city with around 25,000 residents.

 

FUN FACTS

Calabasas hosts an annual Pumpkin Festival.  Native Americans, explorers, squatters, and bandits are all part of Calabasas history. In fact Settlements of Chumash Indians named the area.  It is speculated that the name Calabasas perhaps descended from the Indian word for "where the wild geese fly." Others think the name comes from the Spanish word for pumpkin or wild gourd.   Whatever the case may be, today the City of Calabasas and the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce hold an annual Pumpkin Festival every October.  This neighborhood favorite includes carnival games and live entertainment, which has grown from a small-town fair - to a significant annual event!

 

Brandon's Village is a public playground located at Gates Canyon Park in Calabasas. It serves over 5,000 special-needs children from Calabasas and surrounding communities. Designed by Shane's Inspiration, a nonprofit organization that designs and builds universally accessible playgrounds, Brandon's Village is about 1 acre (4,000 m2) in size. Its playground equipment is over 70% independently playable by children with disabilities, and also provides meaningful and stimulating play opportunities for children without disabilities.

 

Lastly, the Leonis Adobe, an adobe structure in Old Town Calabasas, dates from 1844, and is one of the oldest surviving private residences in Los Angeles County.  It is also one of the oldest buildings in the San Fernando Valley.
